Woolen Overcoat For Men

When it is cold outside, the only acceptable outerwear with a suit is an overcoat. An overcoat is a long coat with sleeves that is worn on top of something else. If you plan to wear your overcoat on regular basis, make sure you buy a coat that is made of 100 percent wool because heavier coats last longer as the fabric is more durable. A good overcoat should be warm, fit you, and make you look great.

Sometimes referred to as 'pea coats', men's wool coats are inspired by both the American and European Navy, and are usually characterized by broad lapels and double-breasted fronts, with large wooden or metal buttons. Men's wool coats are great in winter as the fabric keeps you warm whilst also repelling water, thanks to the naturally occurring oils in the wool.

For instance Cashmere coats are nice, soft, and warm but must take good care at cuffs and the collar because they attract moths. The quality of most fabrics used for woolen overcoats are soft to feel but finest Cashmere woolen overcoats are easy on skin. The major drawback to be observed in Cashmere overcoats is they are not of good appearance comparatively and they are often offered for double the price, though it won’t provide much warmth to feel comfortable in chilling weather conditions.

Double-faced cloth has an inherent thickness that warms the body and adds a little bit of volume and visual interest to the overcoat. Sometimes the two sides are the same color sometimes they're not. Either way it looks good. The overcoat sleeves should completely cover the suit sleeve as well as the shirt cuff, and even reach a little further down to protect you from the cold. The single-breasted overcoat with notched lapel is a good all-a-rounder whereas the double-breasted peak lapel overcoat is a little more formal and wears warmer when it is cold because you have two layers of fabric over your chest.

Traditionally, overcoats were full length garments, extending almost all the way to the ankles. These full-length coats are often the coat of choice for seasoned men. Modern men prefer only knee-length overcoats, which is anywhere between the lower part of the knee to slightly above. Choosing a full-length or knee-length coat is a matter of choice, the full-length coat may be warmer and can make men look a little more seasoned than the knee-length coat.

When you buy an overcoat, make sure to wear a shirt and a men's sports coat or suit jacket because the coat has to fit on top of it. Some men like a looser fit while younger men often prefer a trimmer fit. Wool overcoats for men look great over any outfit and a smart design can actually turn a more casual look into something sharp and fashion forward. There's nothing more stylish than a classic wool coat, so don't miss out on taking your winter wardrobe to the next level.
