There are three kinds of lapels-notch, peak and shawl. In the first type, the notch is cut-out between the collar and the lapel. In the second type, the top of the maple is pointed outward and finally in the shawl type the lapel just continues from the collar and this type is used mainly for dining. There are also three types of vent-center, side and non-vented. The center vent is silt at the back of the garment and side vent has two silts in the lower part of the seam. Non-vented tuxedos do not have any kind of silts or opening at their back. Finally, the pockets too differ in tuxedos and there are double besom pockets, hacking pockets and convertible flap pockets.
